Antioch Baptist Church of Deanwood
Encouragement Ministry

Contact Person:  Darlene Gamble

The Encouragers’ Ministry is to assist new members in acclimating themselves to Antioch Baptist Church. New Members should feel that they fit in the Antioch family. They should feel that Antioch is expecting them, so we will reach out to them from the start. New environments are not always easy or welcoming. New Members may have questions about Antioch. We hope to relieve some of the apprehension for our new members.

Responsibilities:
» Introduce yourself to new members;
» Show new members around the Antioch Baptist Church (include info on Antioch’s website);
» Introduce and encourage attendance of new members to/in Church school (time and classes available);
» Introduce and encourage attendance of new members to/in Bible Study (date, time and overview of study);
» Sit by new members during church service; 3 or 4 services, depending on how often the member attends church.
» During “Sharing of Greetings”, for 1 or 2 Sundays, introduce new members to the Antioch family.
» Call new members “regularly” in the first 6 months, and inform them of special services, meetings, activities that will be happening at church (use church bulletin and website);
» Call new members, periodically within the first year, to check in regarding Church attendance, questions they may have, encourage them to attend Church school and/or Bible Study;
» Encourage new members to join a ministry. Help identify their Spiritual Gift. This is also another way of getting to know their church family.
» Do all things for the Lord, and use a kind word, gentle hand and warm heart with our new lambs that God has placed in our care

Under this ministry we are also responsible for acclimating new members into our church. The following sessions are held to assist new members of the Antioch Church family with the transition:
